Feed America First is pleased to announce the cast of its 2013 Dancing with the Nashville Stars fundraising banquet. The event features a dance contest between 8 local celebrities paired with professional dance instructors from National Dance Clubs and World Champion Productions.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at The Factory at Franklin, in Liberty Hall.

All proceeds from the event benefit Feed America First, a Franklin-based hunger relief charity that operates out of Murfreesboro and serves the Middle Tennessee region. 

“We’re so excited that local celebrities of this stature would choose to align themselves with Feed America First, and in fact share our passion to feed the hungry,” said Tom Henry, founder and executive director of Feed America First. “We have such a broad variety of personalities, which makes us confident that this will be our best event ever.” 

The goal of this event is to provide enough food for half a million meals. The couple that raises the most money for the charity through voting and other revenue streams wins the coveted mirrored-ball trophy. A panel of judges will also give trophies for Artistic Impression and Technical Merit. 





The 2013 DWTNS celebrity dancers and their professional partners are:

· Jennifer Herron, WSMV Anchor/Reporter and radio personality, paired with pro Dusty Johnson, of World Champion Productions, Mt. Juliet;

· Genma Holmes, Host of Living Your Best Life Radio and Entrepreneur, paired with pro John Elliot, of World Champion Productions, Mt. Juliet;

· Brad Hopkins, Former Tennessee Titan and Host of First Quarter on 102.5 The Game, paired with pro Audra Ownby, of National Dance Clubs, Belle Meade;

· Kelly Sutton, Emmy-nominated News Anchor and TV Personality, paired with pro Dayshawn Powell, of National Dance Clubs, Belle Meade.



In addition to the celebrity dance contest, the event will include a catered dinner, a silent auction, and open dancing for guests. The general public is invited to attend the event, but seating is limited, so reservations should be made quickly.

Carter and Weiss have become "go to" individuals in their fields. They used their entrepreneurial skills and passions for unique causes to create events to share their knowledge. Jackson State University will be the host site for the inaugural National HBCU Media Week, to be held June 27-29, 2013. Two major events, the National HBCU Media Summit and third annual HBCU Awards, will cap off a week of national forums, celebration and training in the areas of media literacy and development for America's 105 historically black colleges and universities.

Designed to engage the national HBCU community in media literacy and development, the National HBCU Media Summit will provide best practices in media culture building from HBCU communities from around the nation. Through dialog with practicing journalists, administrators, PR professionals, faculty and students, the Summit assists in providing a focused, national media strategy for HBCUs.

Creativity Moves: Connecting Creativity and Causes

The event will feature a half-day professional development conference for creative leaders and non-profit organizations, city-wide creative workshops, live performances, and a free program for young adult cancer survivors on the power of sharing one’s story.

The event will take place at Belmont University’s Black Box Theatre, hosted by Nashville’s Sideshow Fringe Festival, with additional locations for the creative workshops. All elements of the program include components of both creativity and giving back.

Joy Huber is a stage four young adult cancer survivor and the founder & author of "Cancer with Joy" published by Morgan James Publishing of NYC. She is an award-winning international presenter, individual coach, and the co-writer of the song "Bright Side Effects" (see the Music Video and additional videos on YouTube).

Joy helps the newly diagnosed and those on their support team discover how to transform fear into happiness with resources, support, and en'courage'ment. Gabe’s Chemo Duck Program® is a program of the Nashville-based nonprofit organization, Gabe’s My Heart. Established in 2004 to provide education and comfort to children living with cancer through medical play using therapeutic tools, Gabe’s Chemo Duck Program has provided more than 5,000 ducks to children around the world. Our goal is to enable hospital staff, parents and caregivers to prepare children for chemotherapy treatment and eliminate the fear of the unknown. We work directly with child life departments at our affiliate hospitals to ensure children and their families obtain the full benefit of our program. Chemo Duck is a stuffed yellow duck dressed in blue hospital scrubs with a bandana around its head, a chemotherapy port on its chest and an immobilizer on his arm. In a gentle, age-appropriate manner, children learn what to expect during cancer treatment and have a friend to share the experience. For Nashville-reared Greenfield, frequent visits to her grandparents and cousins in Harlem were a childhood highlight. During those trips she heard stories of the neighborhood's heyday during the 1920s and 1930s, a time when Harlem was the social center for Manhattan nightlife and a thriving arts and music center.
