On Saturday, April 16, 2016, Hip Hop Scientist,  Danielle N. Lee, Ph.D, stops by to engage us on how she shares science to general audiences, particularly undeserved groups. Listen to us discuss the conversations that began at Meharry during the Inauguration Week activities. Dr. Lee was a panelist for Dr. Patricia Matthews-Juarez and for the Inaugural Falcon Fund Luncheon of the First Lady of Meharry, Phyllis Hildreth. Hildreth follows Dr. Lee on Twitter and wanted to include social media in weaving healthcare, social justice, and service in our stories.

Listen to Dr. Lee share about her humble background growing up in Memphis and how at the age of eight she was aware that a college education gave families of color an economic advantage. Dr. lee holds degrees from Tennessee Tech, University of Memphis, University of Missouri St.Louis and does research at the Cornell University. Hear how her field of study, ecology, is funded in part by the military to help in search of mines left behind after war. Also, tune in for a lively discussion about pest control and how it affect the health of infant and elderly.

This is one interview you do not want to miss!

Living Your Best Life is heard on 760AM The Gospel in the Middle-TN area, Tune In,  military bases and on Ustream.TV worldwide from 9:00-10:00am CST.

More About Dr. Danielle N. Lee, Ph. D

I am interested in how ecology and evolutionary components contribute to the behavior of animals. My research involves examining consistent individual variation of behavior, sometimes called Behavioral Syndromes. My post-doctoral research involves examining the African giant pouched rat (Cricetomys ansorgei) to determine the extent to which they demonstrate behavioral syndromes and if there is a genetic component to the behavioral differences.
My science outreach efforts emphasize sharing science to general audiences, particularly under-served groups, via outdoor programming and social media. My work includes The Urban Scientist a blog about urban ecology, evolutionary biology and diversity in the sciences, hosted by Scientific American Blog Network. I am also co-founder of the National Science & Technology News Service, a media advocacy organization.
