These are hard times for NPO's and sadly cost is a huge factor, folks that fund us for some reason are not interesting in keeping the facilities free of pests. <br /><br />At my own center I have started to worry about bed bugs. Most of our furnishing our donated and the areas we serve have a lot of rental and low income housing that are plagued by bed bugs. Yet I have no money in the budget for pest control. Simply is not there,I would have to reduce staffing to cover it.<br /><br />I will say that in the past year I have made changes to our donation policies in that we no longer accept clothing or furnishing and even that causes issues. <br /><br />People get irritated when you tell them you can't accept their used stuff because of the potential for pests. (We had an outbreak of head lice last year that was exacerbated by the clothing closet we kept on site).<br /><br />I am so glad though there are folks like yourself that are trying to connect with communities and let them know what is available.
