Yes they ...I have a very different opinion on this. Yes they raised $55 million between 2004 and 2008. And yes in ONE YEAR they spent more in catering on one event than they issued scholarships. But, the NYT article also showed that all but $1 million of that $55 million was funneled into no-profits that <i>serve the needs</i> of the African Americans. <br /><br />Check it out here:<br /><br /><a href="http://rippdemup.blogspot.com/2010/02/congresional-black-caucus-get-yo-hand.html" rel="nofollow"><b>Congressional Black Caucus: "Get yo hand out my pocket!"</b></a>RiPPahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08876723972974044402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8195576014489760555.post-86484753173084166832010-02-18T14:54:41.722-06:002010-02-18T14:54:41.722-06:00This type of behavior may be more prevalent then n...This type of behavior may be more prevalent then not amongst "black leaders" in communities throughout the U.S.<br /><br />I can tell you with out a doubt it plays in Peoria, Illinois.Emerge Peoriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05241482064128988233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8195576014489760555.post-16385206585500696342010-02-18T09:24:16.432-06:002010-02-18T09:24:16.432-06:00Genma,

The CBCF does many, wonderful thing for black people all around the country and I would encourage you to learn more by visiting our website, cbcfinc.org. Please note that by grouping the CBC and CBCF together (an all too common mistake) and politicizing us, it actually does damage to the core mission of the Foundation - the elimination of racial disparities. Also a fact not mentioned here or in the NYT article, the majority of non-profits spend 8.5 cents of every dollar towards their mission. We spend at least 9. Again, I would encourage you to visit our website to better understand what it is that the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation does. The 2nd Black Presidenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02108713686616820066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8195576014489760555.post-71489298248375424142010-02-17T08:46:38.591-06:002010-02-17T08:46:38.591-06:00Thank you for posting this. It truly angers me that even our own people forget about us when they are in the position to do more. God bless you for bringing this to light!MississippiDAWNhttp://www.twitter.com/mississippiDAWNnoreply@blogger.com
